HOLIDAY RECIPE OF THE DAY

I will be the first to tell you that Cranberry would be my least favorite on the menu but even I would enjoy this.  This puts a whole new twist on the "must have" staple at the table.
I ran across this on the Food Network (you know my favorite Magazine). Looks pretty tasty and makes a pretty decoration.

CRANBERRY

Ingredients
1 small navel orange
1 (12-ounce) bag fresh or frozen cranberries
1 Bartlett pear, cored and cut into large chunks
1/2 cup light brown sugar
Pinch kosher salt
3 tablespoons pecans, toasted and coarsely chopped
Directions
Wash and dry the orange. Cut the orange into small wedges, including the peel, and put in a food processor. Add the cranberries, pear, sugar, and salt. Pulse until coarsely chopped. Transfer to a bowl, cover, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours and up to 2 days. Just before serving, stir in the pecans.

Shopping List:
1 small navel orange
1 bag fresh or frozen cranberries
1 Bartlett pear
1 bag brown sugar
Pinch kosher salt
1 bag chopped pecans

Last Night in Twisted River by John Irving

Just ordered this for my Dad for Christmas
$15.47
Amazon.com is so great!  If you buy $25.00 you get free shipping.
That's a pretty good deal.

In 1954, in the cookhouse of a logging and sawmill settlement in northern New Hampshire, an anxious twelve-year-old boy mistakes the local constable’s girlfriend for a bear. Both the twelve-year-old and his father become fugitives, forced to run from Coos County–to Boston, to southern Vermont, to Toronto–pursued by the implacable constable. Their lone protector is a fiercely libertarian logger, once a river driver, who befriends them.
